In recent years, concert clubs across the country have started working more closely with independent promoters than they have in the past. For instance, Studio Seven in Seattle books a lot of shows with a company out of Cleveland called Gorilla Productions. Gorilla Productions specializes in coordinating local concerts for local bands. They also offer a consultation program for local bands on the in and outs of the music business.
With smaller concert clubs working so closely with independent promoters, it’s no surprise that the venues are having very little trouble booking up their calendars. Event coordinators and promoters like Gorilla Productions and Afton Live work with a number of venues in various cities, like the Beaumont club, which is located in Kansas City.
Many local bands don’t quite know how difficult it can be for concert venues to book them. When a club uses a company like Gorilla Productions to book a local show, it can really do wonders for the local music scene in that particular city.
In the last year, Gorilla Productions and production companies like them put on almost 50% of all local concerts in a plethora of major cities. These companies make it much easier for local bands to books shows than it has been in the past. That’s not to say it isn’t easy for a band to play somewhere like a neighborhood bar, but having the opportunity to play on a stage that famous bands have played on can really boost a local band’s self esteem.
But simply getting shows is not the only way production companies are helping local bands. They also help to up the attendance level of shows as well as finding a way for local bands to make more money than they have in the past. In previous years, any groups that made around $50 on a local show were doing pretty good. But now a band can make up to $500 in a single night- that is, if they’re able and willing to work hard and bring a crowd along with them to their show.
Gorilla Productions puts on shows for local artists in over 65 cities across the nation, specializing in putting on Battle of the Bands, showcases, and music festivals. Production companies like Gorilla Productions have been working closely with concert clubs to strengthen music scenes all across the nation.
